The Leather Furniture Repair Shop Lebanon & New Jersey Residents Trust Most
A leather sofa is not just furniture. It is an investment - often a significant one - that should age gracefully, not deteriorate. When leather starts to crack, peel, fade, or tear, most people assume replacement is the only option. It is not. At Lebanon Leather Work, we have been restoring leather furniture in New Jersey and across the USA for over two decades, and the results we achieve consistently surprise our clients. Repairs are invisible. Restorations are complete. And the cost is a fraction of what new furniture would set you back.
We are a specialist leather furniture repair and leather restoration shop based at 1271 Rt 22 East Suite W4 Lebanon, NJ 08833 - a central location that puts us within easy reach of Hunterdon, Somerset, Morris, Middlesex, Mercer, Union, and every other NJ county. We work on leather couches, leather sofas, leather sectionals, leather chairs, recliners, ottomans, loveseats, and all other leather furniture, regardless of age, brand, or condition. We apply our Restore, Don't Replace philosophy to every piece that comes through our doors.
Whether you need a targeted leather couch repair on a single cushion panel or a full leather furniture restoration for a piece that has seen better days - this is where you bring it.
WHAT WE FIX
Every Type of Leather Furniture Damage - Repaired to Invisible
Cracked Leather Furniture
Cracking is the most common form of leather furniture damage - and one of the most satisfying to repair. When leather dries out, loses its natural oils, or is exposed to heat and sunlight, it develops surface cracks that deepen over time if left untreated. Our repair process fills every crack with professional-grade flexible leather compound, rebuilds the surface texture, and applies a colour-matched dye and sealant that restores the leather to its original supple, smooth appearance. The cracks disappear. The leather feels new again.
Peeling Leather Couch & Sofa
Peeling is more common on bonded leather and PU faux-leather furniture materials where a thin leather or vinyl veneer separates from a fabric backing. Many repair shops turn this work away. We do not. We stabilise the underlying surface, re-bond and fill separated areas, apply a flexible coating system that moves with the furniture, and colour-match the finish precisely. For severe peeling across large areas, we offer a full re-surface or partial re-panel service that eliminates peeling entirely rather than patching over it.
Leather Tears, Cuts & Puncture
Tears and cuts from pets, keys, moving incidents, or daily wear are among the most visible forms of leather sofa damage - and among the most completely repairable. We back the tear with a sub-patch, fill and build the surface, texture-match the surrounding leather grain, and colour-blend to a seamless result. In most cases, the repair is invisible within 30 cm of viewing distance and completely invisible in normal use.
Faded & Discoloured Leather
Sunlight, body oils, cleaning products, and age all cause leather to fade, lighten, or develop patchy discolouration across cushions and armrests. Full leather furniture colour restoration is one of our signature services. We strip the degraded topcoat, apply our custom colour-mixed dye across the entire piece or panel, and re-seal with a protective finish that resists future fading. The result is a fully restored, consistent colour that matches the furniture's original finish.
Leather Burns & Scorch Marks
Cigarette burns, candle drips, and heat contact marks are repairable in most cases. We fill the damaged area, rebuild the surface to match the surrounding texture, and blend the colour. On smaller burns (under 5mm) the result is typically invisible. Larger burn areas may show a very slight texture difference at close inspection but are undetectable in normal use. We will assess honestly and show you expected results before starting
Worn, Scuffed & Scratched
High-contact areas - seat bases, armrest tops, headrest zones - develop scuffing, scratch patterns, and surface wear that dull the leather and make the whole piece look older than it is. We rejuvenate worn leather furniture by re-applying the topcoat, buffing, conditioning, and colour-restoring the affected zones so they match the less-worn areas of the piece perfectly.
Stitching & Seam Repair
Blown seams, broken piping, split corner joins, and fraying decorative stitching compromise both the appearance and the structural integrity of leather furniture. We re-stitch using matching thread weight and colour, replace damaged piping sections, and re-secure corner joins so the piece is structurally sound and visually clean again.
Ink, Dye & Stain Removal
Ink stains, blue dye transfer from jeans, food and beverage stains, and pet accidents all respond differently on leather -and require the right chemistry, not brute-force cleaning. We assess the leather type, the stain chemistry, and the best removal approach before attempting any treatment. In most cases we achieve complete or near-complete stain removal. Where a stain cannot be fully removed, we can colour-restore over it to render it invisible.
WHAT WE RESTORE
Every Piece of Leather Furniture - Repaired to Invisible
Sofa Repair & Restoration
The leather sofa is the centerpiece of most living rooms - and the first thing anyone notices when it starts to deteriorate. Our leather sofa repair work covers the complete range of damage types: tears, cracks, burns, peeling, faded colour, blown seams, and structural cushion issues. We restore 2-seater, 3-seater, and large family sofas across all leather types - full-grain, corrected-grain, faux leather, and bonded leather - with results that return the sofa to showroom condition at a fraction of replacement cost.

Leather Couch Repair
Leather couch repair is our single most requested service at Lebanon Leather Work. From well-loved family couches that have survived years of daily use to premium designer couches damaged in a single incident - we restore them all. Our leather couch repair process begins with a thorough assessment of the leather type, the damage scope, and the most effective repair approach for the specific damage, then proceeds methodically to a finish that meets our invisible-result standard.

Leather Sectional Repair
A leather sectional represents a substantial investment - and a substantial restoration challenge. Colour-matching across multiple connected pieces, ensuring consistent texture and finish across a large surface area, and repairing damage without creating visible panel boundaries all require an experienced hand. Lebanon Leather Work handles full leather sectional restoration as a single job, assessing all panels together, mixing dye to match the whole piece, and restoring each section to the same standard so the result is cohesive.

Armchair & Chair Repair
Leather armchairs - from classic Chesterfield wingbacks to modern accent chairs and designer reading chairs - develop concentrated damage in high-contact zones: the seat, armrests, and headrest area. We restore all leather chair types with the same methodology applied to sofas and couches: structural repair first, surface restoration second, colour and finish last. We also handle leather dining chairs - individual seat repair and full set restoration.

Leather Recliner Repair
Recliners take more mechanical stress than any other piece of leather furniture - the constant folding, extending, and rotating of the seat and back surface creates specific damage patterns: crease cracking along fold lines, armrest wear, and seat bolster deterioration. We repair leather recliners with techniques specifically adapted to their movement demands - using flexible fillers and topcoats that move with the leather rather than cracking again when the recliner is used.

Ottoman, Loveseat & Footstool
Ottomans and footstools take constant contact from shoes, feet, and sitting - and often sustain damage that owners do not notice until it is significant. Loveseats face the same damage patterns as sofas in a more concentrated form. We repair and restore all secondary leather furniture pieces to match the primary sofa or couch they accompany, mixing dye to ensure a consistent, cohesive result across all related pieces.

Antique & Vintage Furniture
Heirloom leather furniture - Victorian Chesterfields, mid-century leather chairs, Arts and Crafts armchairs - requires a different level of care and a sensitivity to the original character of the piece. We do not strip an antique leather piece of its patina. We work to consolidate, protect, and enhance what is there while repairing structural damage and surface deterioration. Where re-dyeing is required, we match the aged tones of the original leather rather than applying a fresh, uniform colour that would look inappropriate on a period piece.

Deep Cleaning & Conditioning
Leather furniture that is not regularly cleaned and conditioned dries out, cracks faster, loses colour uniformity, and develops a dull surface film from accumulated oils, dust, and cleaning product residue. Our leather furniture deep cleaning and conditioning service uses pH-neutral professional leather cleaner, hot oil treatment, and quality conditioner to restore suppleness, revive colour depth, and apply a protective surface treatment that significantly extends the time before the next repair is needed. This service is ideal as either a standalone treatment or as the closing step of any repair job.

Yes - in most cases peeling leather furniture can be repaired, though the approach varies by the type of leather. On bonded leather and PU faux-leather (where a thin veneer peels from a fabric backing), we stabilise the base, re-bond and fill separated areas, and apply a flexible coating system that eliminates peeling. Severe or widespread peeling may require a partial or full re-surface. Genuine leather does not peel in the same way - what looks like peeling on genuine leather is usually a failing topcoat, which we strip and re-apply. We assess every piece individually and advise honestly on the best approach.
-
In almost every case, repairing quality leather furniture is worth it. A professionally repaired leather sofa looks identical to new, costs 10–30% of replacement price, and typically outlasts the replacement - because quality leather, properly maintained, is built to last 20–30 years. The only cases where replacement genuinely makes more sense than repair are when: (1) the furniture is structurally failed beyond repair (broken frame, collapsed springs throughout, disintegrating bonded leather across the entire surface); or (2) the repair cost exceeds 70% of the replacement cost for a comparable quality piece. Lebanon Leather Work will tell you honestly which category your furniture falls into before you commit to anything.
-
Professional leather furniture crack repair follows a specific process: (1) clean and prepare the cracked surface; (2) apply flexible leather repair compound in thin layers, pressing it into the crack structure; (3) cure and level each layer; (4) restore the grain texture across the repaired area using texture pads matched to the original leather grain; (5) apply custom-mixed colour-matched dye; (6) seal with a protective topcoat in the correct finish level (matte, semi-gloss, or gloss). DIY leather repair kits skip steps 2–4 and produce results that look repaired. Professional repair at Lebanon Leather Work produces results that look new.
-
Minor leather sofa repairs - spot tear repair, crack filling on a limited area, single cushion colour restoration - typically take 3–5 business days. Full leather sofa restoration (complete colour restoration, multi-panel damage, deep crack filling across the whole piece) takes 1–2 weeks. Antique or heirloom leather sofa restoration requiring specialist products or historical colour research may take 2–3 weeks. A precise turnaround is confirmed in your written estimate before work begins.

Yes. Faded leather furniture colour restoration is one of the most transformative services we offer. We strip the degraded topcoat, custom-mix dye to match the original colour, apply the dye in even, layered passes across the entire panel or piece, and re-seal with a UV-protective finish that resists future fading. The result is a fully restored, consistent colour that matches the furniture's original finish - often looking better than new because the underlying leather has developed a natural character with age.
